Garnet Plastic Surgery — Apgujeong, Seoul

Garnet Plastic Surgery sits a few minutes from Apgujeong Station, exit 3, in the Apgujeong clinic quarter of Gangnam. It is a single-surgeon practice: every consultation, operation and follow-up is handled by Dr. In-Soo Baek, a board-certified plastic surgeon, rather than passed between a counsellor and an operating doctor. The clinic keeps its daily schedule deliberately small — roughly one patient an hour — so that the same surgeon who plans a case also performs it and reviews the recovery at one, three and six months.

A single-surgeon practice, not a factory

A single-surgeon practice is one where the operating surgeon also runs the consultation and the after-care, with no shadow doctor performing the operation in the surgeon's place. At Garnet that means Dr. Baek consults, operates and follows up personally, and the clinic caps the day at two surgeries so each case has unhurried time. A dedicated coordinator stays with the patient from first consultation through recovery. Techniques registered as trademarks

Several of the procedures Dr. Baek performs are registered trademarks of the practice. Eye surgery

Eye surgery is the clinic's highest-volume area, with more than ten thousand cases recorded since 2011. The range covers upper and lower blepharoplasty, incision and non-incision double-eyelid surgery, ptosis correction, epicanthoplasty, lateral canthoplasty, under-eye fat repositioning and sub-brow lifting. Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is the clinic's other large-volume area. Garnet performs primary rhinoplasty using a silicone dorsum with an autologous-cartilage tip, implant-free rhinoplasty using the patient's own cartilage, and revision rhinoplasty drawing on rib cartilage, donor cartilage, dermis or temporal fascia depending on the case. The aim described by the clinic is to prevent foreseeable complications rather than to maximise projection.

Facial lifting

For the mid-face and jawline Garnet offers a mini facelift, the trademarked Deep mini facelift, and a full deep-plane facelift that combines deep-plane release with SMAS fixation, plus a dedicated neck lift. About the surgeon

Dr. In-Soo Baek is a board-certified plastic surgeon (Korean medical licence no. 77407). He graduated from Korea University College of Medicine and its graduate school in plastic surgery, trained at Korea University Medical Center, and qualified as a plastic-surgery specialist at the National Medical Center. He is a member of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and its facial-contour, eye and rhinoplasty research groups. Before founding Garnet he served for over a decade as a director at larger practices.
